3years of Csr Activities
The Odisa Yuva Sanskrutik Sansad (OYSS), has undertaken a transformative CSR initiative focused on skills building and livelihood enhancement for women from tribal communities in Odisha. The programme was designed to equip tribal women with practical, market-relevant skills across areas such as tailoring, handicrafts, digital literacy, food processing, and micro-enterprise development, enabling them to achieve financial independence and long-term economic security. Beyond individual capacity building, the initiative has had a broader social impact by strengthening community resilience and collective well-being. The programme also fostered leadership, confidence, and social participation among women, positioning them as change agents within their communities. Overall, the OYSS contributed significantly to the holistic upliftment of the tribal communities by linking women’s empowerment with inclusive and sustainable development.
Entrepreneurship & Skills Building:
As part of the skills-building component of the OYSS–Vedanta CSR initiative, women from tribal communities were trained in multiple, practical skill sets designed to enhance both livelihood opportunities and overall community awareness. The programme adopted a holistic approach, combining vocational training in areas such as tailoring, handicrafts, food processing, and basic entrepreneurship with sessions on financial literacy, health awareness, and digital skills.
This multi-skilling model not only enabled women to diversify their income sources but also strengthened their confidence, decision-making capacities, and social participation. Through these interventions, approximately 500 households benefited directly from improved employability and income generation, while the ripple effects of increased awareness, knowledge sharing, and community engagement led to indirect benefits for over 1,200 households, contributing to broader social upliftment and sustainable development across the region.
Vocational Training:
Awareness raising initiative:
Awareness sessions were core to OYSS’s programme in the Kalahandi region and formed a central pillar of the CSR project. More than 50 awareness sessions were organised, engaging women across different age groups and focusing on critical themes such as nutrition, food security, women’s rights, and basic health practices. These sessions combined interactive discussions, group activities, role-play, storytelling, and community dialogues to ensure practical understanding and active participation. By strengthening knowledge, building confidence, and encouraging informed decision-making at the household and community levels, the initiative played a vital role in improving livelihoods, enhancing well-being, and fostering long-term social and economic resilience within the tribal communities.
Regional level women empowerment and awareness raising campaign:
A regional seminar on violence against women was organised by OYSS, bringing together over 500 volunteers who also participated in a large-scale road rally aimed at raising public awareness around women’s safety, security, and the urgent need to address gender-based violence. The seminar served as a platform for dialogue, advocacy, and collective action, engaging communities in conversations on prevention, legal rights, and support systems for survivors.
Cultural advocacy formed a critical component of the engagement, with performances, visual storytelling, and creative expressions used as powerful tools to communicate messages of dignity, equality, and non-violence in an accessible and emotionally resonant manner.
The event witnessed the active participation of leaders and representatives from the diplomatic community, social sector organisations, the entertainment industry, and the cultural space, whose presence strengthened cross-sector collaboration, amplified the reach of the campaign, and reinforced the shared commitment towards building safer, more inclusive communities for women.

Food assistance distribution :
Nutritious food assistance distribution to over 4,000 households was organised during the festival period, playing a crucial role in ensuring nutrition and food security among extremely vulnerable communities.
The food packages were composed of nutritious and essential items such as rice, pulses, cooking oil, fortified food products, spices, and basic staples, carefully designed to meet the dietary needs of families and support balanced nutrition.
This intervention not only addressed immediate food insecurity but also contributed to improved health outcomes, reduced financial stress during a critical period, and reinforced community resilience by safeguarding the well-being of households most at risk.
